Lying next to the equator line, Vietnam is blessed with friendly tropical climate. It gives Vietnam a very lush soil rich of tropical rain forest. This country is also blessed with rich natural resources and off course, natural diversities. There are many species of plants and animals could be found there.

However, natural richness of Vietnam has two sides. The other side is the risk of vast exploitation of the natural resources. In the name of industrialization, the nature suffers from pollution, deforestation, and many more. With the rising awareness in natural sustainability and global climate change threats, Vietnam government took a strategic policy to prevent natural degradation. One of them is by initiating the Environmental Police Department.

Widely known as Green Police, this special police department is responsible for law enforcement against any violation in natural and environmental regulations. The Green Police covers many sides of environmental violations. It ranges from pollution, illegal logging, protected animal and plant trafficking, and many more. These jurisdictions give Environmental Police Department huge power but also huge responsibility and off course, lots of threats.

However, this Green Police Department has made huge contribution in law enforcement in environmental protection. The past year, Vietnam Environmental Police Department uncovered four times violations than the previous years. More and more violators are caught and sent to the court. However, it is not fair to solely rely on the green police to protect the environment. All lines of Vietnam people should have a high awareness on environmental sustainability. As a matter a fact, Vietnam economic is highly relied on natural resources and agricultures, although there is a fast rate of industrialization. When the environment damaged, Vietnam people will get the worst effect. Natural and environmental resources should be used for the people welfare and Environmental Police Department is there to protect it.
