Do you wish you could just cool off your house but don't have the money to install devices such air conditioners and the keep up with their operating cost? Before you jump in and invest in such devices it would be wise to consider that there are definite alternatives to the address this need especially during summer.
Instead of air conditioning units, you might want to sue fans instead to maintain the movement of air throughout the house. You can also avoid using tight and thick clothing and opt to use loose and comfortable ones instead. Simple approaches such as these will help you better manage the heat without having to endanger your finances.
Another factor that needs to be taken into account is the humidity level in the house. You need to keep it low since higher humidity levels would send the temperature rising in the house due to its crippling effect on the evaporation process. You can make use of cold water to keep things cool whenever you bath or shower yourself. It's also a good idea to minimize the time spent on showers or baths.
Another thing that you can do in order to keep the humidity level inside the house in check is to flush the humid air out through the use of venting or exhaust fans. Strategically install these devices in areas where humidity level tend to be high such as your shower room. You may also want to think about going green by adding a couple of vines and trees outside your house to provide cover from the sun. Adding a bunch of flowers all around wouldn't hurt either along with a set of awnings on your windows.
Obviously, the advantages of having all those trees, vines and flowers around is because they are certainly capable of lowering the heat in their immediate vicinity. Its effects are very much limited though so it would be well advised to supplement them with other measures mentioned in this article.
It would also be good to ensure that we shut down all the lights in the house whenever they are not in use. This is especially true for your regular light bulbs which all operate with a higher power requirement. What does this have to do with cooling off you say? Well, the mere fact that they operate at a higher power requirement means they give off much heat during operation which then adds up to the problem.
If you require prolonged use of electrical lights in your home due to insufficient presence of natural light then it would be well advised to make use of special type of light bulbs that operate at a lower power requirement while churning out the same amount of brightness as ordinary ones. They obviously give off less heat, more energy efficient and typically lasts longer compared to ordinary ones.
Another measure you can take to cut down on electrical cost and heat is to better manage your use of electrical appliances. They all use electricity and give off heat one way or another. Marcy Parker |
